This summer, Acne Studios arrives exclusively at our Barcelona store, bringing its distinctive brand of creative luxury that has captured the attention of the global fashion scene. Here's why we've fallen for this brand.

Creativity without borders

Founded in Stockholm in 1996 by Jonny Johansson and three other members of the ACNE collective (an acronym for Ambition to Create Novel Expressions), the brand began as a multidisciplinary project combining photography, design, and denim. Its now-legendary debut—100 pairs of jeans with red stitching—broke the mold and caught the eye of fashion editors, including those at Vogue Paris. Over time, Acne Studios evolved into a full-fledged fashion house, expanding into ready-to-wear, footwear, and accessories, all while staying true to its experimental spirit and Scandinavian design ethos.

What sets Acne Studios apart is its approach to “maximalist minimalism”: a balance between restraint and boldness, between precise tailoring and creative exploration. True to this philosophy, the brand has become an artistic platform encompassing fashion, editorial ventures like Acne Paper, and collaborations with renowned artists.

Cult icons: Blå Konst, Musubi, and more

Among its most iconic pieces are the Blå Konst jeans reworked archival designs with unique finishes, the Musubi bag, featuring a knot inspired by the Japanese obi, and expertly crafted tailoring reimagined with oversized silhouettes. Other standout pieces include printed tees, mohair scarves, artisanal knit sweaters, and conceptual footwear that blends form and innovation. Each item defines functional minimalism with a subversive edge.
